This report recommends that a number of steps are taken to secure young people’s participation in the Big Society, and the role of the participation worker as the primary catalyst for this.
From April 2010 until March 2011, the National Youth Agency, on behalf of Participation Works, delivered a piece of development work in two Government Office regions to build on local level links between statutory and third sector practitioners concerned with participation.
This work focussed on embedding practices to measure participation across the region, creating a more supported environment for improved practice and increasing the skill levels of practitioners to better include children and young people in their work. The work was delivered across two events in each region, with the second of these events acting as a follow up to the first.
